The brief

NHS Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight CCG intends to Direct Award a 36 month contract to South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, commencing 1 October 2021, for a paramedic led, Home Visit Support Service, with an option to extend by a further 24 months.

This will cover South West Hampshire primary care networks only.

A Home Visiting Support Service for Primary Care was initially commissioned in April 2020 in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic to support primary care resilience with General Practitioner home visits across the geography of South West Hampshire System - covering all 9 Primary Care Networks.

A review of the service has highlighted the value of the support the service has given to primary care.

It is now regarded as essential to the resilience of the sector, especially given the challenges of ensuring equity of access to primary care, both for the ageing population and, patients needing but unable to travel to, a face to face consultation.

The value of the 36 month provision is currently set at £2,916,000, rising to £4,860,000 if the optional extension period is used.
