When this comes round again

Environment Agency publishes Research & Development work continuously — 194 notices, roughly one every 3 days. This is a stream to watch, not a cycle to wait for.

23% of Environment Agency’s awards go to a supplier it has used before.

Which is the argument for getting on the list rather than winning this one. The incumbent is rarely the last winner — it is the roster. See the retention odds by category →

The brief

This project will undertake flow derivation reviews at 13 selected Environment Agency gauging stations to assess the accuracy, reliability and suitability of existing flow derivation methods.

The reviews will examine current methodologies, identify limitations and uncertainties affecting the quality of derived flow records.

Where justified by the available evidence, improved flow derivation methods and ratings will be developed, including the derivation of a modelled high-flow rating for one specified station if sufficient.
