GMCA has started campaign and communications activities on behalf of all ten districts to drive up the numbers of the potential foster carers across the city region.

Increasing number of foster carers will improve outcomes for looked after young people and reduce costs of alternative provision.

This commission is part of piloting a coordinated city region-wide approach to foster carer recruitment - the success (or otherwise) of which will directly impact on local districts.

Our impacts are also being evaluated by Department for Education, which is funding the campaign activities.

Media coverage, in particular through city region's sole region-wide print title Manchester Evening News, was proved an effective driver of enquiries during an initial phase of campaign activities in 2023/24.
