The brief

In March 2015 Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit (Arden and GEM CSU) on behalf of NHS England established a 3 year National Framework for the provision of Childhood Influenza Immunisation services.

The framework took effect on 01 April 2015 and will conclude on 31 March 2018.

The principal aim of the service is to protect those who are at most risk of serious illness or death should they develop influenza and reducing transmission of the infection, thereby contributing to the protection of vulnerable individuals who may have a suboptimal response to their own immunisation.

NHS England North (Yorkshire and the Humber) has procured a single provider to deliver this programme for the Wakefield District for a period of 3 years, commencing on 01 May 2017.

The service will be based on a cost per case contract.

The unit cost is £10 per vaccination, which made up of £7.64 for the administration of the vaccine plus £2.36 to manage the Child Health records.

CQUIN is not applicable for this programme.

The eligibility cohort for this programme is School Year 1, 2, 3 & 4 and Special Schools exc.

Yrs 1, 2, 3 and 4 - in the Wakefield District area.

The indicative activity for this contract is 10,303.
