The brief

Halton Borough Council seeks expressions of interest from suitably experienced contractors wishing to be considered for tendering for work as outlined below.

Budget estimate £750,000 Description of Works: Norton Priory Trust working in partnership with Halton Borough Council aims to redevelop the current visitor centre at Norton Priory, Europe's most excavated monastic site, as part of its Monastery to Museum 900 Project.

This will involve construction of new gallery areas (60% increase), visitor facilities including toilets, cafe and shop, a new viewing gallery looking out over the ruins, alongside upgraded education, conservation and store facilities.

The project secured Round 2 HLF funding in August 2014.

The Trust & Council has already tendered a main contractor to undertake the main refurbishment and building works and now seeks to appoint a fit out contractor with the relevant specialist experience to achieve a modern museum facility.

The main fitout contractor will be responsible for the construction, co ordination and installation of the following elements:- * Setworks and exhibition unitry * Audio Visual Hardware * Showcases including showcase interiors and mount making * Physical interactive displays * Graphic production and art working * Exhibition lighting and electrical installations within the exhibition unitry, including focusing of the lighting scheme. * Coordination will be required with a separately appointed AV software contractor to develop and confirm AV hardware requirements.

Contractors returning a PQQ will have their submissions evaluated following which a tender list of up to 6 contractors will be invited to tender for the works.

The work will be tendered as a traditional lump sum fixed price contract and the anticipated form of contract is the JCT Standard Building Contract 2011).

The selected contractors will be invited to tender in July 2015
