The brief

NHS Ipswich & East Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Group and NHS West Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Group (the CCGs) are working with Suffolk County Council (SCC) to develop new arrangements for procuring nursing care in residential and care homes.

The CCGs purchase nursing beds for patients who have been assessed as being eligible for NHS continuing healthcare, for rehabilitation and reablement and to ease pressures within the health and care system.

SCC also purchase nursing beds for patients with nursing needs.

The aim of the procurement is to develop a more collaborative approach to meeting the needs of the people of Suffolk, which enables providers to plan and organise their council and NHS commissioned care more efficiently.

Commissioners are seeking to contract with providers for the supply of these services on a 3-5 year contractual term with an agreed service specification.

Organisations which are interested in finding out more about these plans are invited to meet local commissioners to: • Gain a shared understanding of the challenges faced by commissioners and providers • To input into the development of the contractual framework and service specification The event is taking place on the 18th June, between 10am and 1pm, with registration starting from 9:30am in Stowmarket.

If you would like to attend the Nursing Care Homes provider event please contact Juliet.estall@suffolk.nhs.uk to reserve a place, and you will be emailed back with the precise venue and further joining details.

Places will be limited to two per organisation.
