The existing 5 laser Fortessa is often booked to maximum capacity, resulting in long waiting times for researchers for who the capacity of the Cytoflex in its current set up is not sufficient.
Additionally, the Cytoflex as it is a newer instrument easier to operate.
StartUp and Calibration can be done independently of facility staff, unlike the Fortessa.
This makes the Cytoflex usable out of ours and on weekends.
The laser upgrade is necessary to support the research by increasing the capacity of the facility, resulting in shorter waiting times and longer hours of availability for the researchers.
