There is a risk that an incident or accident may occur impacting the LW's health and safety that requires help and assistance.
As part of its duty of care Anglian Water has a Mobile Phone Lone Worker System that is used by its 3,000 (approx.) workers that have the potential to be a LW.
Before starting a job and once on site the system is activated by the LW using his company mobile phone to record his location and to set an alert time period that is then monitored centrally by the Operational Management Centre (OMC) team in Lincoln.
An alert is raised by the system if the LW doesn't update using his mobile before the end of the set period or if a panic button is pressed - an escalation procedure is then followed by the OMC to make contact and if necessary find the LW.
