This is an informal sounding of the market through which Charnwood Borough Council in conjunction with The Outwoods Management Committee seeks to better understand the potential for a range of commercial and other options for appropriate redevelopment of the Outwoods Cottage and Surrounds in ways that complement existing facilities and services currently provided.
The site is comprised of three adjacent areas.
There is a small building housing some basic public toilets and a building known as the "Keepers Cottage".
Located next to the car park this building has been closed up for around three years.
The building and the surrounding areas are an underutilised resource which could potentially make a significant contribution to visitors experience of the site.
In addition, the Council is seeking input from the market on the best ways to package any potential redevelopment opportunity to help stimulate significant interest in the project and ensure a wide range of high quality proposals are brought forward.
The Council believes that early engagement with the market can usefully help shape the development of the project and increase the chances of a successful outcome.
The Outwoods is a high quality, well-loved site used by over 100,000 people per year.
The currently closed Keepers cottage and surrounding areas are an underused resource which, with appropriate development, could contribute significantly to both the long term sustainability and the overall visitor offer of the site.
The need is therefore to bring the area into use in ways which are appropriate to the site, provide complimentary facilities and activities and contribute to delivery of the overall vision.
The last date to request information will be the 27/01/17.
