The brief

1.1.

In order to support and enhance UK capability to identify, track and characterise satellites in deep space orbits (e.g.

Geostationary Earth Orbit [GEO] and similar environments), Dstl requires a programme of work to study and develop an active ground based radar optimised for deep space.

1.2.

This statement of work covers Phase 1 of a Technical Demonstrator Programme (TDP) for a UK Deep Space Radar (DSR) to work towards an Initial Operating Capability (IOC).

1.3.

Dstl has identified the following packages of work as being required: • Deliver a detailed analysis of UK requirements relevant to GEO SDA in the form of a System Requirements Document (SRD) • Deliver a study into deep space radar concepts designed to meet the UK requirements identified by the above analysis (SRD). • Deliver summary and conclusions for Phase 1 plus costed Options e.g. demonstration and de-risking of key techniques or capabilities (see WP3).
