When this comes round again

Wirral Borough Council's Real Estate Services cycle is past due — it ran about every 5 months across 13 notices, and the door is open now. It may re-tender at any time.

28% of Wirral Borough Council’s awards go to a supplier it has used before.

Which is the argument for getting on the list rather than winning this one. The incumbent is rarely the last winner — it is the roster. See the retention odds by category →

The brief

Wirral Council are currently developing a new Market to be relocated at 1 Princes Pavement Grange Precinct, Birkenhead.

The new market will replace the current Market at Perimeter Stalls, Grange Precinct which has become tired, costly to operate and requires a major transformation to make it more appealing and fit for modern market trading conditions.

The aim is to inject new trading opportunities and entrepreneurs into Birkenhead Town Centre.

Design development for the market is ongoing with refurbishment and fit out works scheduled to start on site in May 2025.

This will transform the building into a new Market that correlates with the success of other markets across the UK, providing an offer that reflects changes in the high street, aspiring to bring market traders both new and current together within one place and with the aim of bringing vitality back to Birkenhead.

Wirral Council are now keen to explore options for the future operation of the newly developed Birkenhead Market in the Town Centre and are undertaking this preliminary market engagement to consult with the market to inform a delivery strategy.
