The brief

The Borough Council of Bolton ("the Authority") is prepared to receive tenders for Purchase & Supply of a Telescopic Wheeled Loader which will be subject to the information, specification and tender package enclosed.

The Authority's Fleet Management Environmental Services, based at Mayor Street Depot, currently hire a JCB 3cx.

Its function includes, but is not limited to, assisting in the day to day running of the depot functions; loading material on to vehicles, muck shifting and unloading / loading delivers.

This machine is also used out of hours in the winter to load the Authority's salt hopper and gritters.

The Authority now has in place a new fleet of gritters which are much higher than our old fleet, meaning the current JCB 3cx is not able to lift to a safe height to load the gritters.

The existing machine also has no lifting safety devices, therefore should a pipe burst during the loading operations, the bucket / arm would fall to the floor or onto a vehicle.

With this in mind, The Authority seeks to purchase a new machine that is capable of lifting to the required height with load check valves, whilst owning our own asset.
