The proposed contract is for radiocarbon dating and Bayesian analysis (where required) of an estimated 150 to 300 archaeological and related palaeoenvironmental samples per year.
It is expected that there will be a collaborative research element involving HES, archaeological groups working on projects sponsored or paid for by us, and the Supplier.
It is also expected that all samples submitted will be at a macroscopic level.
The contract also includes provision of advice to Historic Environment Scotland and /or the sample submitter on the selection of samples and the interpretation of the results.
It is essential that expertise in Bayesian statistics is included in this provision, which includes providing Bayesian modelling/ analysis of results when requested.
