The brief

Accelerate programme aims to provide sustained expert support for ECTs to equip them with the tools to succeed - to improve ECT teaching quality, retention, and pupil attainment.

There are four elements: • Instructional coaching from subject or phase expert coaches, video coaching, workshops and school visits. • Blended learning - launch event, 2 face-to-face training and online modules. • Communities of Practice - peer groups, collaboration. • In-school conditions for success - training and support for in-school mentors and leaders, in-school support for participants.

Blended learning programme with training modules (face to face and online), in-school support and local networks.

The programme uses excellent Teaching School Alliances (TSAs) as Delivery Hubs.

They lead local delivery utilising significant pre-existing regional networks, provide coaches and host CoPs and events.

Hubs receive central support, with coaches receiving intensive face-to-face and online training and expert supervision for coaches.
