The brief

The Occupational Health Advice (OHA) Pilot for Work Coaches is to be run by Birmingham and Solihull JCP District who intend to test the concept of providing a telephone-based OHA service for Work Coaches.

This will help to improve the advice they give ESA claimants prior to their Work Capability Assessment (WCA) to help them to move closer to or return to work.

For evaluation and research purposes, the Provider will discuss the nature of a claimant’s health condition to identify the issues preventing them from returning to work and to offer advice on adjustments and support to facilitate the claimant moving closer to the labour market.

The advice will be delivered to Work Coaches via the telephone and be formalised in a written one-page Summary Report, which will be available to the Work Coach via a secure electronic transfer.
