When this comes round again

National Library of Scotland has published 5 Software & IT Systems notices, about every 5 months. On that rhythm the next one is expected around December 2026.

42% of National Library of Scotland’s awards go to a supplier it has used before.

Which is the argument for getting on the list rather than winning this one. The incumbent is rarely the last winner — it is the roster. See the retention odds by category →

The brief

The National Library of Scotland (“the Library”) is planning a procurement exercise for a cloud based Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) that includes service desk capabilities.

The system must be compatible with tablet devices and able to integrate seamlessly with SFG20 via API.

At this point the Library is seeking feedback from the industry to determine best practice in providing the appropriate product to deliver on the Library’s requirements.

The Library requires to demonstrate not only commercial “Best Value”, but also acknowledge the importance for structured, open and positive working relationships that will deliver a positive experience for all involved.

The Library currently uses ShireSystem’s cloud base Pirana and the contract is coming to an end in May 2025.

It is anticipated that a new CMMS system will be required to replace the old one by March 2025 and will run for 5 - 10 years.
