The brief

Overall aim: To determine whether it is feasible to refine handling systems for the electrical stunning of slaughter weight pigs, taking into consideration group handling of pigs and potential for automation to reduce stockperson handling and pig isolation before slaughter and achieve higher throughput.

This is with a view to providing in the longer term a non-aversive alternative to high concentration carbon dioxide stunning.
