Ofsted has responsibility for registering and regulating the following types of children's social care services; children's homes, supported accommodation, residential family centres, independent fostering agencies, voluntary adoption agencies, adoption support agencies and residential holiday schemes for disabled children.
In addition, a manager must be appointed at each children's home and supported accommodation service, and must be registered separately with Ofsted.
