AI for Tenders:
What It Does, What It Doesn’t, and How to Test It

AI for tenders is four different jobs under one label: finding notices, deciding whether to bid, reading the pack and drafting answers. Work out which one your team is failing at, then test a tool on a real notice.

What does AI for tenders cover?

Four jobs that need different evidence; a product strong at one is not automatically strong at another.

Where does AI help, and where does it not?

It compresses reading and first drafts. It does not supply evidence, judgement or price.

Fluent text is not the same as a compliant answer: mandatory requirements are scored pass or fail before quality is read.

How do you decide whether AI for tenders earns a place in your bid process?

Match the tool to the job your team is failing at, then test it on a real notice.

  1. Start with the source01

    Name the job

Separate finding, qualifying, reading the pack and drafting before you look at tools.
  2. Define the scope02

    Open a real notice

Use a current Find a Tender or Contracts Finder record, not a vendor sample.
  3. Read the evidence03

    Check the source trail

Look for the sentence or document behind each output.
  4. Make the decision04

    Read the data terms

Get training, retention and deletion terms in writing before uploading anything.
  5. Name the next action05

    Record the review

Keep what was produced, what was checked and who signed it off.

A supplier’s review sequence, based on the primary sources below. It is not a measured outcome or a prescribed buyer timetable.

What do UK buyers say about suppliers using AI?

Use is not prohibited, but buyers may ask you to disclose it and to confirm the answers were checked.

Supplier AI use

  1. Allowed

Cabinet Office guidance does not prohibit supplier AI use.

  2. Disclosure

A buyer may ask whether and how you used it.

How do you test an AI tool before you buy it?

Use one real published notice and material you are allowed to upload, then inspect the output.

  1. Before you start01

    Pick one real notice

Use a current Find a Tender or Contracts Finder record.
  2. Check 202

    Set one bounded task

Ask each tool the same question and require sources.
  3. Check 303

    Inspect the output

Record missing requirements, unsupported claims and review time.
  4. Check 404

    Read the data terms

Get training, retention and deletion terms in writing.
  5. Follow through05

    Check the exit

Confirm you can export your work and what it costs.

An editorial order of work, not a buyer's fixed timetable. The current notice and documents determine participation and submission.

What else should you know about AI for tenders?

Check these points before committing your team’s time.

What does AI for tenders actually do?
It covers four separate jobs: finding notices, qualifying whether to bid, extracting requirements from the pack, and drafting answers. Few products do all four well, so name the job you are failing at before you look at any tool. The comparison page lets you weight the criteria yourself.
Does RFP Quest write tender responses?
No. RFP Quest reads Find a Tender and Contracts Finder notices and keeps the bid decision, owners and evidence together in a signed-in workspace. It does not draft or submit a response, and members confirm anything consequential on screen.
Can UK public buyers reject a tender written with AI?
Cabinet Office guidance says suppliers' use of AI is not prohibited during the commercial process, and that buyers may ask you to disclose it and confirm the answers were checked (PPN 017). Read the individual tender pack for its own instructions.
Is it safe to upload a buyer's tender documents to an AI tool?
Check the tender's confidentiality terms first, and the vendor's terms on training, retention and storage. The National Cyber Security Centre advises reading a provider's terms of use and privacy policy before putting anything sensitive into a query (NCSC).
Where do I find tenders for AI systems rather than AI tools for tenders?
That is a different search. Public bodies advertising AI contracts publish on Find a Tender and Contracts Finder; the live tender list shows open notices with a link to each primary record.

Where can you check the evidence?

Read the primary publication and the buyer’s current documents before acting.
