Maintenance of Parish Green Spaces in Exminster
We haven’t measured a rhythm for Exminster Parish Council in Agriculture, Forestry & Horticulture yet — so we’re not going to guess at one.
Exminster Parish Council (the "Council") owns over nine hectares of public green space at more than a dozen locations within the parish which requires regular and proactive maintenance.
In addition, it also provides additional grass cuts to the verge sides and footpaths managed by Devon County Council and play areas managed by Teignbridge District Council.
The Parish Council has published policies which mandate that its green spaces are managed in an environmentally friendly manner and prohibits the use of pesticides on soft surfaces.
The Council is now seeking expressions of interest from qualified and experienced contractors for the maintenance of these green spaces.
This RFI is intended to gather information to help the Council understand the capabilities, experience, and interest of potential service providers.
Scope of Services The maintenance services may include, but are not limited to: • Grass cutting, collection and strimming • Hedge trimming and pruning • Maintenance of flower beds and planters • Weed control • Small tree planting & maintenance • Watering • Riparian water work along the length of a brook to remove debris and allow free flow • Disposal Submission Requirements Interested contractors are invited to submit the following information: • Company name, address, and contact details • Overview of relevant experience and qualifications • List of equipment and resources available • The number of people employed, and whether any subcontractors are utilised • References from similar contracts (preferably with other councils or public bodies) • Confirmation of insurances held and any relevant certifications (e.g., public liability, waste carrier license, chemical handling) • Any additional services offered over and above those listed in the Scope of Services above.
Evaluation and Next Steps This RFI is for information-gathering purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation or offer to contract.
Based on the responses received, the Parish Council may issue a formal Invitation to Tender (ITT) at a later date.
Submission Instructions Please send your response by 11 September 2026 to: groundsmaintenance@exminsterparishcouncil.gov.uk

Confirmation of insurances held and any relevant certifications (e.g., public liability, waste carrier license, chemical handling)
Matched against the notice text, so this is a floor — the tender pack will demand things the notice never mentions. “Says must” means the quoted sentence itself used obligation language; anything ambiguous is left as a mention.
