The brief

Southend-on-Sea City Council is seeking an experienced and suitably qualified contractor to undertake the design and refurbishment of the play area at Belfairs Park.

This popular play area contains a number of items of equipment that have reached the end of their operational life and no longer provide a modern play experience.

The Council has secured £149,000 of capital funding to improve the facility, creating an inclusive and accessible play area that offers a range of active, engaging, and age-appropriate play opportunities.

The works will include the removal and/or refurbishment of existing play equipment and surfacing, together with the installation of new natural timber-based play equipment that reflects and complements the surrounding environment.

The contract will be awarded under the JCT 2024 Minor Works Building Contract with Contractor's Design, as outlined in the Employer's Requirements, Specification, and accompanying tender documents.
