When this comes round again

Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime has published 4 Environment & Waste notices, about every 7 months. On that rhythm the next one is expected around March 2027.

40% of Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime’s awards go to a supplier it has used before.

Which is the argument for getting on the list rather than winning this one. The incumbent is rarely the last winner — it is the roster. See the retention odds by category →

The brief

The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) is seeking to engage the market to inform the development of a solution for the secure disposal of criminal exhibit digital media, including but not limited to mobile phones, hard drives, and USB storage devices.

This pre-procurement activity is intended to assess supplier capability and capacity to deliver a service that meets the operational, security, and compliance requirements associated with handling sensitive evidential material.

There is a need to establish a structured, scalable, and repeatable service model to support ongoing disposal activity of 2.9m+ criminal exhibits (current stock holding).

The anticipated requirement will include but not limited to the secure collection, transportation, and destruction of digital storage media, with a strong emphasis on data irretrievability and evidential integrity.
